Download Osprey

Installing Osprey is easy, free, and takes about 10 seconds.

Osprey also works on other Chromium-based browsers. Use the Chrome Web Store listing above. These are not officially supported, so we cannot promise every feature behaves.

After you install

  1. 1

    Pin Osprey to your toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar, find Osprey, and pin it. This is optional, but it lets you see the verdict for the page you are on.

  2. 2

    Start browsing as normal

Osprey is already protecting you. There's no account to create and nothing you need to configure. Every provider is enabled by default.

  3. 3

    Change anything you like, later

Click the Osprey icon and choose Open Settings to turn individual providers on or off. You can also add your own API keys for third-party integrations.

Developer builds

Every commit is built automatically, so you can run the latest code before it reaches a store. These builds are untested, won't get updates, and may be broken. If you just want protection, use the buttons above instead.

You need a GitHub account to download build artifacts. GitHub requires one, and there is nothing Osprey can do about that.

Developer build on Chrome or Edge
  1. Go to the Actions section and click Compile for Chrome or Compile for Edge.
  2. Open the most recent run, scroll to Artifacts, and download the artifact.
  3. Extract the ZIP to a folder on your computer.
  4. Go to about://extensions in your browser.
  5. Turn on Developer mode, then click Load unpacked.
  6. Select the folder you extracted, then click Select Folder.
Developer build on Firefox

This only works on builds of Firefox that allow unsigned add-ons. Standard Firefox will refuse to install it.

  1. Go to the Actions section and click Compile for Firefox.
  2. Open the most recent run, scroll to Artifacts, and download the artifact.
  3. Extract the ZIP to a folder on your computer.
  4. Go to about:addons in your browser.
  5. Click the gear icon and choose Install Add-on From File.
  6. Select the extracted add-on file.
